APMGA
The mission of the Albemarle Park Manor-Grounds Association is to actively promote and facilitate the identification, preservation and documentation of the architecture, landscape architecture, and social and cultural history of Albemarle Park; to promote public awareness of these significant historic contributions to the development of Western North Carolina and to the history of architecture and landscape architecture in the United States; and to assist efforts to preserve and restore significant features, documents, buildings and objects pertaining to the architecture, landscape architecture, and social and economic history of Albemarle Park, for the benefit of all of the community of Asheville and Buncombe County.
Through the support of our members and donors, Albemarle Park Manor-Grounds Association has worked to rehabilitate and maintain our neighborhood’s historic features such as the replication and fabrication of our historic street lamps, the restoration of the brick to Hillside Walk and the planting of trees in the Circle Park. APMGA has plans to restore our stone markers at the south entrance of our neighborhood in 2016. We look forward to furthering our mission through education, promoting public awareness and the restoration of more of our historic district’s landscape features in the future.

After being covered in asphalt for many years, APMGA excavated and restored the Hillside Walk brick path in 2013.
Using the one existing original street lamp, APMGA replicated and reproduced street lamps which are now installed throughout the neighborhood.
Consulting with APMGA members to ensure historic accuracy, the City of Asheville contracted with stone masons, Independent Stoneworks to rebuild our Cherokee Road wall in 2013.
With the help of the City of Asheville, original signage has been restored throughout the neighborhood and placed on locust posts.
